Griffin and I worked for a while on the bass line for this song. The guitar part is pretty repetitive and I wanted the bass line to be like something from Parliament or Funkadelic. I was happy with the lyrics on this one, but wasn't too crazy about how the last minute of the song turned out. You can almost always find something to critique afterwards. The horn parts are pretty cool though!

I was hanging on something that passed me like a train. The summer days they grew so hot we sweated like the rain. But then it came back to haunt me like before. A winter's daydream that went a little bit like... Your naked body pressed against the sheets of my bed. My intuition pushed me way too fast. It was that day I saw you bend over and then I knew. I had to call you and leave that message way too late. I wondered what you must have though when you played... That tape just like the tape I played when I fell asleep. And you told your friends and I told my friends. And your friends said "cool it out." And my friends said "just be cool." So I turned and didn't do a thing and that's when you called back. So I let that telephone ring and heard your voice live on my machine. So I let it play out in my kitchen and danced around my place.
